
Katie Sakanai
Conductor
Katie Sakanai is the Director of the Northwest Neighborhood Choir Program, conducting the Timberline and Alpine ensembles at our central and northwest locations. She has 10 years of experience teaching K-12 Chorus and Band and runs a private lesson studio. She is also the director of music at Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church. She majored in Music and Russian at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. After graduation, she studied Russian classical music on a Fulbright scholarship to Russia at the Gnesin Institute in Moscow. She received her Master’s in Music Education with an emphasis in conducting from Colorado State University. Katie sings with Denver Choir League and enjoys writing her own stories, poems and songs. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Wheat Ridge.
