DENVER, CO — The Denver Children’s Choir (DCC) and Vocal Coalition (VOCO) invite the
community to celebrate 30 years of transforming young lives through music—and a powerful
new chapter together—April 30 through May 2.
The celebration begins with the DCC’s 30th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, April 30 at Mile
High Station, and culminates Saturday, May 2 with three dynamic concerts at the Robert and
Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver.
DCC presents In This Very Room: Celebrating 30 Years of Harmony with two performances:
- 12:00 PM – featuring more than 250 singers from DCC’s Neighborhood Choirs
- 3:30 PM – showcasing DCC’s Premier Ensembles
The day concludes at 7:00 PM with VOCOCHELLA, VOCO’s high-energy pop concert featuring
over 150 youth performers and special appearances by local hip-hop artists 2MX2 and Old
Man Saxon.
This celebration follows last year’s landmark merger between DCC and VOCO, uniting two
visionary organizations into one dynamic force for youth empowerment through music.
Together, they now serve more than 500 young people across the Denver metro area,
reflecting the region’s rich cultural and socioeconomic diversity. More than half of participants
receive tuition assistance, and over 60% identify as youth of color.
Founded in 1995, DCC is a leader in choral education, offering a comprehensive pathway from
beginning Neighborhood Choirs to advanced Premier Ensembles, with programs across 10
locations and a nationally recognized touring program.
Since its founding in 2017, VOCO has reimagined youth choir through contemporary music,
collaborations with BIPOC artists, and a strong emphasis on wellness and belonging—bringing
music directly into schools, community spaces, and performance venues.
“This merger isn’t just about uniting organizations—it’s about unleashing a wave of
possibility,” said Travis Branam, VOCO founder and Artistic Director of the combined
programs. “Together, we are empowering Denver youth to rise, dream, and believe in
themselves. Music is the tool, but affirmation is the goal.”
